Mentoring is a powerful tool for inclusion for young people with an immigrant background. The association “Duo for a Job” offers an inspiring example: it connects young job seekers with volunteer senior mentors, often retired, who share their experience and networks.

Mohammad Waseem Yousafzai (27) woont in Mechelen, maar vluchtte in 2021 from Afghanistan to Belgium to the Taliban regime daar de macht greep. Ondertussen spreekt hij haast perfect Nederlands en een jaar geleden open hij zijn eigen voedingswinkel op de hoek van de Brusselpoort en de Hoogstraat.
