Mentoring? What lever for a young person with an immigration background?

Mentoring is a powerful tool for inclusion for young people with an immigrant background. The association “Duo for a Job” offers an inspiring example: it connects young job seekers with volunteer senior mentors, often retired, who share their experience and networks.

Thanks to Eddy (71) and DUO for a JOB, Mohammad (27) now runs his own shop in Mechelen, five years after fleeing Afghanistan.

At DUO for a JOB in Borgerhout, young people with a migrant background are paired with experienced mentors to help them find a job more easily. According to the non-profit organisation, migrants in Antwerp have a 17% lower chance during recruitment processes.
