DUO for a JOB: seniors help young people with an immigration background to launch themselves on the job market

It's a bit stressful for Kenny. Originally from Burundi, this young man arrived in Charleroi in 2021. Today, he is having a job interview. Or rather a simulation of an interview. The aim? Be as prepared as possible for the realities of the world of work. Facing this ordeal, Kenny is not alone. He can count on the valuable advice of Jean-Luc, his mentor. This retired man spent his entire career in retail as a real estate manager. For several months, he has been giving Kenny tools and supporting him in his professional career.

At DUO for a JOB in Borgerhout, young people with a migrant background are paired with experienced mentors to help them find a job more easily. According to the non-profit organisation, migrants in Antwerp have a 17% lower chance during recruitment processes. That is why they are launching the “Who is it?” campaign, aimed at raising awareness about discrimination against jobseekers.
