DUO for a JOB matches young job seekers from diverse backgrounds with people over 50 years old who have a professional experience in related fields and who can accompany and support them in their job search.

The young person (mentee) and his/her mentor meet for a minimum of two hours a week over a period of six months (of course, flexible arrangements can be made to accommodate their respective agendas)

DUO for a JOB provides services to young job seekers and future mentors in Brussels, Liège and Antwerp.

    Our objectives

By 2020, DUO for a JOB aims at:

    • Offering to over 2000 participants, both young and less young, an opportunity to experience a unique encounter between cultures  and generations
    • Training 1500 mentors in how to pass on knowledge, to listen and to embrace difference
    • Maintaining the level of the current rates of access/return to work, which is twice as high as the “natural” insertion rate

The information sessions, often collective, are an opportunity to present the project, clarify everyone's roles and answer any possible question

If participants expressed their interest to go on with the mentoring program, an interview is held with each candidate (mentor and mentee) to get to know them better.

An initial 4-days training is mandatory for all future mentors. Its goal is to provide the “basic tools” of accompaniment.

On the basis of different criteria (business sector, spoken languages, personality, availability, etc.), DUO's coordinators thus put in contact a trained mentor with a young mentee, taking into account respective needs and skills

This first meeting is the opportunity for the mentor and mentee to get to know each other and decide whether or not to pursue the match

If the two members of the duo wish to continue together, a second meeting is organised in order to sign the agreement and the ethical charter of the company

The accompaniment period, during which duos will meet on weekly basis, lasts 6 months

"Extra" activities (facultative) are also organised in order to foster encounters within the "DUO community"

"Bringing together active mentors enables them to get to know each other, to share their experience, to share best-practices but also to find support when they encounter difficulties within their duo"

At the conclusion of the 6 month period, participants are invited to assess whether the program met their expectations and whether the goals they had set were reached
